Mini Sushi Cupcakes!!

Today’s order was for a Birthday Party at an Asian restaurant in York. Sushi cupcakes are one of my absolute favorite to make, I love when I have the opportunity to make cupcakes look like something completely different!

The cupcakes are Vanilla cake with Strawberry filling, whipped Vanilla icing rolled in coconut and topped with assorted fruits. The coconut, along with being delicious, really looks like the rice used for sushi; the assorted fruit was used to resemble fish, carrots and avocado (I used strawberry, kiwi and tangerine.)

I also made hand-molded edible chopsticks out of chocolate and hand painted edible gold Japanese calligraphy to say “Happy Birthday”!! Even the wasabi and ginger root are edible and made from fondant. I also included a bamboo mat to add some more character to the presentation. Even the restaurant staff were OO-ing and Ahh-ing and grab a few business cards!!

Nothing is as satisfying as knowing my customers are happy, I really try my best to give them something they have never seen before that will be talked about long after the party. Baking memories is what I love, knowing a part of my heart is being shared with others.

Happy Birthday Kamilah, Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your birthday!

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

This Very Hungry Caterpillar was made for a very special little boy named Jacob’s first birthday!

This was by far my favorite children’s book as a kid (thinking about it now and my career choice, it makes perfect sense)! I loved the colors, unique style, and story….so to be able to re-create this in a cake was so exciting and refreshing to say the least!

All of the decorations on the cake are edible and made of fondant…so much that coloring it all made my hands sore that night and following morning!

Abby Cadabby 1st Birthday

I love all things girly….so to be able to make a cake with pink, purple, flowers and butterflies makes me all fluffy inside. This one features a hand-crafted edible fondant Abby with fondant flowers and icing butterflies! I added some curled ribbon to the top to add some Abby girly flare.

Hope you like it…. because I had a blast making it!

Anusha’s Birthday Barbie

This was made for my very special neighbor, Anusha, for her birthday. She loves Barbie so of course wanted a birthday themed with Barbie, jewelry, crowns, and all things that make little girls happy.

This cake is definitely a new favorite of mine and everyone I’ve showed it off to. It features a Barbie gown cake covered in fondant and decorated with flowers, butterflies and pearls. Also included were 1 1/2 dozen matching cupcakes with crowns, rings and flower accents for the girls to wear after stuffing themselves full of cupcakey goodness!
